The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) was passed. The legislation included provisions that make health insurance coverage more stable and affordable for those that have it while extending it to those who don’t. The law also aims to strengthen the health system through better care coordination, payment reform, promotions of health information technology, preventive health measures and other efforts.
