Over the course of three years, Missouri issued state funding cuts to community mental health centers’ budgets. At one point, the funding reduction totaled more than $17 million. Funding cuts were viewed as inhibiting access to hospital-based and community-based psychiatric care, housing services, access to medications and case management services.
