In 2009, the Sunflower Foundation, with HCF support, launched a grassroots campaign to prohibit smoking in public places in Kansas. In March 2010, Kansas Gov. Mark Parkinson signed into law the Kansas Clean Indoor Air Act. The ban on smoking in indoor public places and workspaces, including bars and restaurants, went into effect in July 2010.
